The goal of this project is to design a social campaign on a topic of your choice. The project is meant to help educate and raise awareness for a topic of your choice through the use of visuals and language. The learning objectives are to learn how to design a cohesive social campaign that includes a poster, billboard, social media ads (Instagram and Facebook) and an environmental installation. We can use typography, illustration, photography, or a combination in our campaigns and utilize them in a way that can convey the mood/tone and meaning of the campaign topic.
My social campaign is about bringing awareness to not outing LGBTQIA+ individuals. Although an individual is comfortable sharing the details of the sexuality with one person, it does not mean they are comfortable with everyone. It is not only an issue of privacy when divulging someone’s sexuality, but safety as well. In our progressive generation and current society, we often forget that stigmas still exist around LGBTQIA+ expression in certain cultures and some households today. This campaign will be used to convey a serious message to the public and bring awareness to protecting and guarding the safety of LGBTQIA+ individuals during coming out.
