The goal of this project was to design a side table for a pre-existing company. Not re-creating an already existing table, but analyzing the company's visual identity and tendencies towards certain formal qualities and creating a new side table that they could sell. After some in-depth research and ideation, the side table design would actually be built using solid wood and woodworking techniques. So this fact had to be considered as well in the ideation process.
The company I chose is Kastella. They're a small company with a small team based in Montreal. They use both traditional and modern techniques in their production. I thought that they were a good company to explore based on that.
